About Suburban Chicago Apple Users

We are a community-based Apple user group that keeps suburban Apple users current on changes in technology. Monthly programs in Schaumburg include such topics as the iPhone and iPad (iOS devices), as well as Macintosh computers, Apple TV, safe internet use, and more.

The group originated in the early 1990’s as “The Northwest of Us” Macintosh users. The 2015 name change to Suburban Chicago Apple Users reflects Apple’s broadening range of devices beyond computers, as well as the group members’ diverse expertise.

We are first and foremost all about Apple products. Our goal is to learn all we can about the devices and programs we use. We specialize in sharing information between and among our members, so that we can benefit from each others’ wide experience as Apple users.

Our programs (monthly except July and August) allow lots of Q&A opportunity — both during topic presentation and in breaks between speaker sessions. Networking among attendees is encouraged. Many attendees say they get great information, not only from our speakers, but from members of the group. Many are IT professionals who have chosen Apple products for their personal use. “PC’s at work, Apple at home” is the reality for many of these Apple devotees.

In addition to monthly programs, several special interest groups (SIGs) meet separately to focus on specific details of interest to that group. The FileMaker Pro SIG discusses FileMaker Pro databases and their workings and uses in a weeknight workshop every month. An iOS SIG also meets bimonthly, with in depth updates by President David Ginsburg.  CLICK: Education/SIGs

Periodic webinars are offered for members to attend from home at a special member rate. Non-members may also attend for a slightly higher fee.

Volunteers publish a periodic blog full of details about the group with articles and reviews submitted by our membership.

Suburban Chicago Apple Users is an all-volunteer group. Each of the people you see helping at our programs, as well as the many who assist behind the scenes, donates their time and expertise. Our wish is that everyone will share at some point in their membership. This is how we will maintain a quality organization for a reasonable membership fee, and it’s also fun to get more involved.

The annual family membership fee is $50. Join our Group/Become a Member
